The issue

How are the wounded being evacuated now?

Either they take risks and use large-sized vehicles in short breaks between enemy shelling. Or their comrades carry the wounded several kilometres on stretchers.

The transportation of the wounded from advanced positions to relatively safe zones is the most dangerous and unpredictable part of evacuation. In conditions of open steppe terrain, which is visible and fired upon by the enemy, any large-sized vehicle immediately becomes a target. Sometimes the only possible option to transport the wounded to the medics for receiving qualified assistance is to carry them on stretchers for 5-10 km.

Often, a seriously wounded soldier cannot be taken out of the battlefield and brought to the medics for 6, 10, 12 or even 24 hours. The worldwide experience of evacuating the wounded is not always relevant for the hostilities in Ukraine. In many places on the frontline it is impossible to achieve the Golden Hour standard due to constant changes of positions, mined areas, and areas visible to the enemy.

Solution

Time plays an incredibly important role in saving the wounded. An alternative to long-term and physically exhausting evacuation on stretchers can be evacuation on buggies, which are less noticeable due to their size, produce less noise, require fewer people involved in the evacuation, and reduce the evacuation time several times.

Advantages of evacuation buggies:.

  • Low/Small– much less visible in the fields compared to armored vehicles.
  • Resistant to overturning on the off-road.
  • Passable when a certain type of tires are installed.
  • Noiseless compared to other transport.
  • Low cost – produced of spare parts of used cars.

During the fundraising period these means are especially needed in the Zaporizhzhia direction.

We have managed to collect UAH 1 167 226.

All these funds made it possible to purchase 10 evacuation buggies, which were sent to the following divisions:
  • the 31st Brigade
  • the 82nd Airmobile Brigade
  • the 110th Mechanised Brigade
  • the 118th Mechanised Brigade
  • the 127th Territorial Defence Brigade
  • the 79 Air Assault Brigade
  • the 1st Tank Brigade
  • the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade
  • the 65th Mechanised Brigade
